Netflix’s momentum seems unstoppable at the moment. The streaming giant continues to announce new movies and TV shows for its global audience to anticipate in 2024. But why not go further? What’s to stop Netflix from teasing projects that won’t debut until 2025 or 2026?
Turns out, nothing is stopping them. At a recent event in London, Netflix UK’s Vice President of Content, Anne Mensah, revealed a plethora of new movies and series set to launch in the coming years.
I personally believe Netflix excels at producing TV shows over movies, so here are four shows from the lineup that I think are worth keeping an eye on until their official release:
Black Mirror season 7
Release date: 2025
Episode count: 6
Creator: Charlie Brooker
Main cast: TBC
Despite the mixed reaction to season 6, ‘Black Mirror’ will return for a seventh season in 2025. The upcoming season will even feature a follow-up to the popular episode ‘USS Callister’ from season 4.
Eric
Release date: 2024
Episode count: 6
Creator: Abi Morgan
Main cast: Benedict Cumberbatch, Gaby Hoffman, and McKinley Belcher III
Benedict Cumberbatch will star in ‘Eric’, a 1980s-set thriller series created by Abi Morgan. The story follows a puppeteer named Vincent who embarks on a journey to find his missing son using a puppet named Eric as his guide.
Kaos
Release date: 2024
Episode count: TBC
Creator: Charlie Covell
Main cast: Jeff Goldblum, Janet McAteer, David Thewlis, Cliff Curtis, Killian Scott, Billie Piper, Susan Izzard, and Aurora Perrineau
Jeff Goldblum will star in ‘Kaos’ as Zeus, the Greek God of Thunder, in a darkly comedic series that offers a unique twist on Greek mythology. Goldblum’s portrayal of Zeus is expected to be neurotic and paranoid, setting the stage for an intriguing take on the character.
Supacell
Release date: 2024
Episode count: 6
Creator: Rapman
Main cast: Tosin Cole, Nadine Mills, Eric Kofi Abrefa, Calvin Demba, Josh Tedeku, and Eddie Marsan
‘Supacell’ is an upcoming Netflix Original series that explores the superhero genre through the lens of five black individuals from a South London neighborhood who gain superpowers. With a focus on diversity and representation, ‘Supacell’ aims to deliver a fresh perspective on superhero storytelling.
