Google Wallet gets overdue feature to help fix iPhone ticket-sharing headaches – TechToday

Google Wallet is expected to support Apple Wallet files, allowing it to open and use tickets and passes saved in the Apple’s .pkpass file format.

Android tipster Mishaal Rahman reported the feature rollout to some users, with confirmation from followers. However, the feature may be limited to certain regions currently.

In the past, some tickets and passes only included an Apple Wallet link, excluding Android users.

The improved compatibility will eliminate the need for third-party apps to convert Apple passes, making it easier for Google Wallet users to use digital passes.

Digital Wallets have become essential due to the shift away from physical currency and the rise of phones, smartwatches, and NFC payments. Google Wallet is replacing Google Pay and is expected to compete better with Apple Wallet.

Google and Apple Wallet apps are popular payment apps, with Google Pay originally released in 2011 and Apple Wallet in 2012.
